New Pond Village’s Tastes Around the World: A Culinary Journey

New Pond Village recently hosted a spectacular event that brought the flavors, sights and sounds of three diverse cultures straight to our community. Residents and guests had the chance to embark on a culinary adventure across France, Germany and Morocco—without leaving Walpole. It was an afternoon filled with rich flavors, lively conversations and cultural delights, expertly curated by Food & Beverage Director Lacey Rainey.

The Essence of France

In true French fashion, guests sipped champagne while sampling delicate duck confit canapés and indulging in macarons. A lively mime moved silently around the room, adding a playful touch to the ambience. France’s famous harvests were honored with souvenirs of Bonne Maman preserves and the soothing scent of lavender, transporting everyone to the rolling fields of Provence. It felt like an afternoon in a French countryside café.

Germany’s Festive Spirit

Germany came alive with the sounds of accordion music, played by a performer in traditional Bavarian lederhosen and an Alpenhut (a hat). Lively tunes paired with hearty German fare, including savory sausages, meats, cheeses and crisp beer, set the stage for an authentic Oktoberfest experience. The hoppy notes of German brews complemented robust dishes like bratwurst and pretzels, and the crowd couldn’t help but clap and sway to the rhythms. This region buzzed with joyful energy, inviting everyone to join in.

Morocco’s Exotic Flavors

Morocco offered a taste of the exotic with fragrant mint tea, delectable dates and colorful spices. Guests savored the sweetness of Moroccan treats like date cookies while learning about the importance of the date harvest in Moroccan culture. Did you know that Morocco is home to over 100 varieties of dates? The air was filled with the inviting scent of mint—a symbol of hospitality, friendship and renewal—capturing the warmth and tradition of Moroccan gatherings.

The day was filled with exciting opportunities, and guests were eager to explore New Pond Village’s spacious apartment homes and luxurious amenities. Guided tours by our associates provided an insightful look at the beautiful campus, where the changing autumn leaves created the perfect backdrop.
