Walpole Native Calls New Pond Village Home
New Pond Village resident lives his best life and shows senior living defies stereotypes.
Leif Jacobsen is a shining example of what life can be like at a continuing care retirement community (CCRC).
The 84-year-old resident of New Pond Village moved to our community more than eight years ago. A savvy businessman and formerly the owner of an electronics company, Leif’s active and engaged life breaks stereotypes of senior living communities, demonstrating how rewarding retirement life can be.
Leif’s vibrant lifestyle serves as an inspiration for those hesitant to consider a CCRC because they fear losing their independence or not having enough to do. Instead, they will find that, like him, they can have a rewarding life full of connection and purpose.
At New Pond Village, Leif has shed the tedious responsibilities of day-to-day life, such as home and property maintenance. Now, he has plenty of time to do what he wants when he wants and pursue activities that he enjoys, such as golfing with friends or serving on resident committees.
Best of all, he has plenty of time to do what really brings him joy: spend time with his four children and nine grandchildren.
In addition to doing his favorite things, Leif has also had the opportunity to try new things. There are always new things to do at New Pond Village. According to Leif, residents “can’t possibly participate in all the programming” offered at the community because there are so many options available, from chair yoga to golfing to woodworking.
Residents like Leif have access to wide range of services and amenities that enable them to live their best lives and maintain independence. Whether it is quality on-site healthcare services, a host of engaging social and recreational activities, or chef-prepared cuisine made to order, residents always have what they need to live, grow and flourish.
