New Pond Village Named Boston Magazine’s Top Senior Living Community
New Pond Village has been named one of Boston Magazine’s Top Senior Living Communities, and for resident Trudy Walsh, the recognition comes as no surprise.
“The friendly atmosphere,” she says, is what sets New Pond Village apart. When the retired children’s librarian toured senior living communities in the summer of 2023, she was drawn in by the warm welcome from residents and associates. It also helped that her apartment home’s view closely resembles the one she had in Dover, overlooking a lawn, woods and water.
What It Takes to Be a Top Senior Living Community
To earn a place on the Top Senior Living list, communities must meet key criteria, including positive federal ratings, strong online reviews and recognition in press and public perception. Located on the banks of Willett Pond in Walpole, Massachusetts, New Pond Village not only meets these standards but also provides a relaxed setting where residents enjoy creative dining and a full calendar of engaging activities designed to enhance their daily lives.
Life at New Pond Village
Since moving in, Trudy has become an active member of the community, starting a poetry program and a ukulele club known as the Happy Village Strummers. “We offer our songs and sing in the Mind and Memory Care neighborhood—they sing with gusto,” she said. “The choir has also been restarted. We have a wonderful director and we’re having fun doing it. We invite the whole community to join.”
New Pond Village Campus Executive Director Adam Manchester said the community’s mission goes beyond fun and engagement. “We take seriously the trust our residents put in us to support their evolving needs and deliver a high quality of life,” he said.
