Lack of proper retirement planning is one of retirees’ biggest regrets with the high price of housing, day-to-day living, and illness or unexpected medical costs being their top financial surprises, according to a 2018 study by Global Atlantic Financial Group. On February 19, 2020, a special event, Understanding the Tax and Financial Benefits of Lifecare Communities, will address financial planning and the tax implications of health and housing expenses as we age so that individuals and their loved ones can avoid common pitfalls and stay connected to who and what matters most.

New Pond Village, a Benchmark continuing care retirement community in Walpole, Mass., will host financial planning experts, Terence Hunt, CPWA, CIMA, CRPC, CFP,
senior vice president and wealth management advisor at Merrill Lynch and Richard J. Weishaus, CPA, of Berger, Katz, Weishaus and Lenza, PC. This complimentary lunch and learn event will begin at noon.

Attendees will learn about the advantages of Lifecare, a combined housing and healthcare option that helps retirees predict and manage the costs of their care, protect against rising healthcare costs and preserve hard-earned assets. Hunt and Weishaus will demystify the Lifecare option, which provides a set fee for life so that seniors don’t have to worry about accessing or paying for the care they need as they age.

Hunt has been in the financial services industry for 32 years. In addition to being a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), he is a Certified Retirement Planning Consultant (CRPC), a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), a Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA) and a Certified Special Needs Advisor.
