Kara Miller

Roles and Responsibilities
Kara Miller is the Mind & Memory Care director at New Pond Village, a role in which she oversees the quality of services offered. She offers support and coaching to the resident’s caregiving team, ensuring they feel confident and equipped to deliver exceptional care.
Passion for Senior Care
Kara is passionate about ensuring residents have the best quality of life possible and says the most rewarding part of her job is building relationships with residents. “There is not one day that is the same, which I love,” she says, adding, “I also love laughing with the residents; I love listening to them.”
Industry Expertise
Kara worked at skilled nursing facilities for 17 years before coming to New Pond Village. She is a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer, a Certified Dementia Care Manager and a Certified Dementia Practitioner through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.
Leadership Philosophy
Associates are trained to read and respond to non-verbal cues from Memory Care residents, who are often unable to find the right words to communicate what they’re thinking or feeling. It’s important, says Miller, “because that emotional part is affecting everything else.”
Milestones
Kara graduated from Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., with a bachelor’s degree in social and rehabilitation services and a minor in psychology. As a senior, she interned at an adult day health center.
Kara also won the 2023 New Pond Village Service Champion Award, along with Move-In Coordinator Staci Dooley.
Personal Interests
When she’s not working, Kara enjoys spending time with her husband and their German shepherd, Ziva; attending her nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events; being with family; traveling; cooking; and doing puzzles.
